When should you start sending your child to the dentist? According to the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD), you should schedule an appointment with your family dentist by age 1 or within six months after the first tooth comes in. Typically, your child will get their first tooth around 6 months of age.
We are conveniently located in Dearborn right on Michigan Avenue. We are located near ACO Hardware and are accessible via the major roads. We are proud of our state of the art facility and equipment.
When Do Teeth Come In?
As mentioned before, your child will get their first tooth at around 6 months of age. However, most children get all their primary teeth by the time they are three. The top and bottom incisors and canines are the first teeth that come in. This table shows when all your child’s teeth will come in:
|8 to 12 months|
9 to 13 months
16 to 22 months
25 to 33 months
|6 to 10 months|
10 to 16 months
17 to 23 months
14 to 18 months
23 to 31 months.
While your child’s teeth are coming in, the staff at West Village Dental Care is here to help you with all of your family dentistry needs.
What to Expect at the Dentist?
Depending on the practice you go to you can expect different things. However, being a family practice, West Village Dental Care will provide you with most services general practitioners offer; such as cleaning and an exam when you come in for a routine check-up. Your child will have their teeth, jaw and mouth looked at to ensure everything is forming properly.
This means watching out for any potential problems, like crooked teeth and creating a strategy to soothe it. Additionally, when you decide to go to a family practice you are choosing to work with someone who knows how to handle kids, which can be a source of frustration for other specialists.
